Due to popular demand, Maria Friedman’s stunning sell-out show Lenny & Steve has had its run at The Pheasantry extended. There will now be extra performances on Monday March 11th and Tuesday March 12th.

Maria Friedman sings ‘Lenny & Steve’ with Jason Carr (Musical Director)
Monday 11th March – Tuesday 12th March (doors open 7:00pm, show at 8.30 pm, ending at 10.30 pm)
Tickets: £30.00

Three-time Olivier Award-winner Maria Friedman and her two-time Tony nominee musical director Jason Carr explore the songs of Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim in their critically acclaimed show, comparing and contrasting songs from their separate catalogues, as well as their joint masterpiece West Side Story. Songs include “New York, New York”, “I Can Cook Too”, “Losing My Mind” and “Send In The Clowns”.
“…the songs impact on each other in interesting and amazing ways. But then there aren’t too many Maria Friedmans or Jason Carrs around … they teased and cajoled, amused and moved, and most of all “told stories” that … made us listen to even the most familiar numbers with renewed interest” – Edward Seckerson.

A past competitor and Musical Director of The Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year Competition will be performing together at The Pheasantry next Monday and Tuesday evening.

Craig Rhys Barlow (a competitor in 2011) and Mark Etherington (MD in 2012) are amongst the company for:

IN HERE – THE MUSIC AND LYRICS OF CHARLES BLOOM

22nd and 23rd October 2012

7.00 pm (show starts at 8.30 pm) at

The Pheasantry, 152 King’s Road, Chelsea, London SW3 4UT

Craig and Mark will be joined by Rebecca Caine (Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera), Sophia Ragavelas (Les Miserables, Mamma Mia, The Lion King), and Martin Neely (Les Miserables, Mary Poppins). The company is completed by double bassist Nick Pugh.

Ranging from comic parodies to jazzy swing numbers and soulful ballads, Bloom’s songs are characterised by memorable melodies and witty lyrics, and have been performed by such luminaries as Patti LuPone, Mandy Patinkin and Michael Feinstein. His work has drawn praise from Stephen Sondheim (“his cleverness never fails to amaze me”), Jerry Herman (“the first composer-lyricist I’ve heard in 25 years whose work speaks to me”) and Stephen Schwartz (“clever and well-crafted – this is fine work”). You can hear some examples of Bloom’s songs on his website at www.charlesbloomusic.com.

If you love musical theatre, this is an evening definitely not to be missed, and Charles has travelled all the way from New York to be in attendance so you can chat to him after the show. He’ll also be signing copies of his new CD, also entitled In Here.

Ticket price is £20, available from the Pheasantry website (www.pizzaexpresslive.co.uk) or phone 0845 6027 017.
