Here are some items of late news about some forthcoming events:

Brush Up Your Sondheim!

As part of Jonathan Kent’s presentation, he would be keen to answer questions from the floor – so if you’re going to B.U.Y.S, do put your thinking caps on and see if you can come up with some really great questions to ask!
However, if you’re not going to the weekend you can still have your questions asked – just email them to peter.auker@sondheim.org, or tweet them to @StephenSSociety. We’ll report back on the website after the event to tell you what his answers were! (Better still, why not book up and come along in person?!)

Just Another Love Story

Director Ray Rackham has put together this wonderful evening of Sondheim love songs – and it will be performed on the evening of 21st July (after Brush Up Your Sondheim!) at The Concert Artistes Hall, Bedford Street, London. Tickets are now on sale for non-members  and cost just £10. The performance starts at 8pm, and you don’t have to have attended the Summer School to go (although – why not make an amazing Sondheim weekend of it and go to both?)

It would be fantastic to fill the venue, and would be a really nice “thank you” to Ray, who has put this on especially for us.

Kris Olsen (2012 Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year) Concert

On Friday 3rd August Kris Olsen, this year’s astonishingly talented SSSSPOTY winner, will be treating us to a fantastic evening of music at The Pheasantry, King’s Road, Chelsea. Tickets for this are £15 (food is extra, but not obligatory) and the show starts at 8.30pm (doors are open at 7pm) Snap your tickets up now before they all go, by phoning the booking line on 020 7439 4962 (choose option 8), or by going to their website: bit.ly/NuFNwU

The award-winning director Michael Strassen has joined our impressive line-up of Sondheim experts as a workshop leader. Michael replaces Richard Dempsey, who unfortunately is now unable to appear.

Michael’s credentials include directing Sondheim’s Assassins (winner – Off West End Award for Best Production) and Company, and also Stephen Schwartz’s The Baker’s Wife and the 40th Anniversary production of Godspell.  You can read more about Michael at his website: www.michaelstrassen.com

The programme and line-up of experts for our Summer School next week is now finalised, and the good news is that there is still some time left to book your place on this unique and exciting weekend!

The school is for anyone interested in Sondheim – you don’t have to be an actor, musician or academic, and there will be a range of activities to suit everyone, from practical workshops to talks and lectures about Sondheim.
